Shaima is an experienced Gender researcher and project officer. She has been working from 1999 to 2008 for many donor organizations and NGOs in Egypt such as Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Street Law Inc. USA, USAID, and Plan International - Sudan office. Her work with Street Law Inc. involved being program manager for a Gender and Human rights enhancement project in Upper Egypt, whereas for USAID she worked in their gender and women education programmes in Egypt, Sudan and Jordan. From 2004 - 2006 Shaima was the gender adviser for many organizations including Plan International organization’s campaign to fight Female Genital Mutilation in Upper Egypt, after which she joined the Women for Development Association as development and environment program officer.
Shaima is currently working in many capacities, as Gender program manager in many NGOs in Egypt such as Human Development Association (HDEA), Human Rights Association in Cairo and SpissHope Association in Slovakia. Additionally she is working on a freelance base as Gender and communication consultant for EC funded project in ECC, focused on Romani women's rights, and MENA regions.
Shaima graduated in Ain Shams University in Cairo in 1999, and has a Masters degree in Social Studies, with a specialization in Female Education in the Patriarchal Communities from the American University in Cairo. In 2009 she got a diploma in mass-communication methodologies and journalism from The Saint Clement of Ohrid University, Sofia.
Since the beginning of 2009, she is following the Doctoral program in Social Studies at the American University in Cairo.
