Recording and sharing of knowledge and information on gender mainstreaming policies

There is a wealth of exisiting information on gender mainstreaming in water sectors. GWA will continue to seek to bring this information to the attention of the GWA membership and other key stakeholders.

Through this website the Gender and Integrated Water Resource Management Resource Guide and many Other resources are made available. Through our listserve relevant information about events, articles, and developments are distributed to our members. Hard copies of reports and CDs are made available on conferences and can be ordered at the secretariat.

FolderE-Conferences

The Gender and Water Alliance convened a serie of e-conferences in January-September 2002. This e-conference series on Successes and Failures in Gender Mainstreaming in Integrated Water Resources Management aimed to collect, share and analyse information on the successes and failures in the practice of mainstreaming gender in order to make recommendations for improving practice.

In 2005 an e-conference was held titled "Gender Mainstreaming in Water Management for Agriculture". The questions "why" and "what has to be done" were discussed to come to a minimum agenda for gender mainstreaming in water management for agriculture.

As both series were very successfull, GWA has planned to convene more e-conferences during the timeframe of the Strategic Plan 2005-2010.

ArticleTraveling Exhibit

Together with IW-Learn, GWA started a traveling Exhibit in May 2005. The main objectives of this project are:

  • to raise awareness about gender and water issues
  • to strenghten capacity in community-based groups and organisations to address gender equity in integrated water resource management
