Asian Development Bank (ADB)

At the 3rd World Water Forum GWA and ADB signed a letter of intent, to promote gender mainstreaming into ADB's developing member countries (DMCs) water sector activities. Under the cooperation:

  • GWA did an Operations review of ADB projects using the Gender-Scan developed by the GWA (which can be downloaded below)
  • GWA provided advisory services to ADB staff for operations in countries through sharing the gender expertise of the GWA network.
  • a pilot project to test and replicate good practice of gender mainstreaming will take place
  • Trainings and capacity building on gender and water for ADB staff by GWA will be provided
  • a joint publication of GWA and ADB will be produced
  • a case study into gender mainstreaming has been undertaken (which can be downloaded below)

FileGender Equality Results in the Punjab Community Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project Pakistan

The case study analyses the available information and experiences in mainstreaming gender concerns in the Punjab Community Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project in Pakistan. It highlights the lessons learned by the stakeholders involved and pays special attention to aspects of good practice that could be replicated in other ADB water projects.
